Social bookmarking statistics

Posted by Michael Bloch in web marketing (Friday December 21, 2007 )

Facebook continues climbing the social bookmarking services popularity ladder, as does Ask according to these statistics just released.

Provided by AddThis, purveyors of the nifty bookmarking widget you see on this and many thousands of other sites, here’s how the various services stacked up during November:

Social bookmarking statistics - November

Google - 17%
Favorites - 15.5%
FaceBook - 9.9%
Live - 7.7%
Del.icio.us - 7.4%
Digg - 6.6%
MyWeb - 5.2%
Ask - 4.4%
Furl - 4.2%
StumbleUpon - 3.6%
Reddit - 3.1%
Other - 15.4%

Facebook has jumped up another notch from September and Ask has climbed 2 places, while Del.icio.us has dropped two spots. Ask is making headway in many areas at the moment, particularly search - well worth keeping an eye on.

RSS web feed reader statistics - November

Google - 36.9%
MyYahoo - 21.1%
Bloglines - 8.9%
Live - 8.6%
MyMSN - 4.8%
Feedreader - 3.9%
Technorati - 3.1%
Netvibes - 3.0%
AOL - 2.3%
Newsgator - 2.0%
Newsburst - 1.3%
NewsIsFree - 1.2%
Other - 30%

Not much has changed since September on the RSS feed reader side of things, with the main players remaining static in their positions.

By the way, if you’re not using AddThis as yet, it’s well worth implementing - and it’s free. Another great social bookmarking widget to take a peek at is ShareThis - it includes a tell-a-friend function.
