Search engine strategies N.Y.

Posted by Michael Bloch in web marketing (Thursday March 2, 2006 )

If you’re itching to know what’s going on behind the closed doors in the Search Engine Strategies conference in New York, you’re not alone :).

The New York conference has been particularly interesting given all the major changes in the search engine scene lately, including the currently brewing “Big Daddy” on Google – which feels like it’s been going on for longer than its infamous predecessor update, Jagger.

For those of you who aren’t aware, Big Daddy is a major change in back end search infrastructure in Google. It’s being slowly rolled out at Google’s various data centers around the world . The last I heard (from the SES conference), there’s still 6 weeks to go before all the data centers will have Big Daddy, then the rumor is there will be a major general update. So, if you’re traffic seems rather screwy at the moment, there may be more screwiness to come :)

Anyway, back to Search Engine Strategies New York – there’s just so much being discussed there that it would be such as shame for us ordinary mortals not to get a peek in – and thanks to the good folk at SEO Roundtable, we can!

They are taking notes as the sessions happen and then posting them here very soon after – so don’t expect polished prose; but it’s great to have access to this fresh information and not have to wait to gain it 3rd and 4th hand after the conference finishes. Kudos to the SEO Roundtable team!
