Increasing blog traffic -new service

Posted by Michael Bloch in web marketing (Sunday September 16, 2007 )

How BlogRush works:

Every time the widget displays on your blog, you’ll earn a credit from BlogRush. That credit translates to one of your recent blog post headlines then displaying on another blog via the widget. It’s suggested that you implement it in your blog sidebar so you’ll crank up the most credits possible.

But wait, there’s more :).

If you refer another blogger to the service either via a referral link, or the blogger clicks on the BlogRush link on the widget; you’ll also receive credits each time the the widget is displayed on the blog of the person you referred.

If that person then refers someone, you’ll recieve further credits.

This aspect operates on an MLM type system/matrix that offers ten tiers depth. Like any MLM system, those who get into it early will likely benefit the most in regards to referrals, so it’s worth spending the couple of minutes to sign up and implementing the code and see how it works for you – as mentioned, it’s free. The blog headlines showing up in the widget open in a new window, so you won’t lose visitors to your site if they see an item of interest.

How much traffic you’ll get from this service is anyone’s guess; but it’s certainly getting a lot of positive reviews from around the blogosphere – and from some authorative and credible sources.

This isn’t a shonky link exchange that Google is likely to slam you for – you’ll notice the links point to BlogRush and not the blog posts themselves. It also doesn’t infringe on any of AdSense’s terms of service.

BlogRush is the brainchild of John Reese, an Internet Marketing pioneer who has been marketing online since 1990. John created one of the first autoresponder services and has created and launched over 110 online projects.

This new free service, launched just a few hours ago, might be just the thing you need to help increase targeted traffic to your blog.

The first challenge of blogging is creating valuable content on an ongoing basis – the second is getting word out so others come to read it.

While following the tried and tested basics of blog promotion is always the best starting point, such as ensuring solid search engine optimization and commenting on other blogs related to your topic; experimenting with 3rd party services such as BlogRush can also be beneficial.

Launched yesterday, BlogRush is essentially a widget that displays posts from other blogs related to your topic. The widget is very simple to install. Here’s how it looks:

  1. A free pyramid advertising scheme in which everyone wins?!
Just don’t tell the tax dept….

  2. Hi Jayne – heh, I guess everyone wins until it hits a certain saturation point as with all MLM/network marketing type arrangements; then the newcomers will find it increasingly difficult to “recruit” other bloggers. Hence the advice to get in early :). If there were any fees to join involved, I wouldn’t be promoting it.

Still, if a blogger is generating a lot of page views, then they’ll rack up credits without the referral aspect.

I’m assuming at some point that BlogRush will also offer paid widget advertising options; i.e. perhaps a headline from each widget display will be set aside for that purpose or perhaps those in the network will be able to sell their credits to advertisers, or there may be a small “sponsored by” link on the box. But they are just guesses.
