Forum and blog promotion

Posted by Michael Bloch in web marketing (Sunday November 5, 2006 )

Sometimes we spend so long working on our own sites, we forget there’s a world of forums and blogs out there that may benefit from our expertise. By sharing knowledge, it can also be turned in our favor to funnel traffic to our sites and boost sales.

Posting comments to blog threads and replies to forum topics helps to build credibility, gives an opportunity to network with others in our industry, gain a clearer idea of what potential customers are wanting and can also help to boost search engine rankings.

As with any promotion or marketing strategy, there’s a number of points to observe to make your efforts in this respect most effective. For example, it’s important to understand that each community has it’s own vibe, culture and lingo – sometimes just diving in and commenting can do more harm than good. While leaving comments doesn’t cost a cent in outlay, it can take up a substantial amount of time… and time is money.

With this in mind, I’ve just published a series of tips to help you make the most of using forum and blog commenting as a promotion strategy. I hope you find the article of value.
