Taming the Beast - quality web marketing and ecommerce development services bookmarking script

Posted by Michael Bloch in web marketing (Sunday February 19, 2006 ) is a free online service for storing your bookmarks and favorites. It also allows you to share your favorites with friends and colleagues, or the entire community – and this is where it’s real power and benefit lies.

If you’re away from your computer, it’s a great way to access your favorites, but users can also take advantage of the research that other members have carried out by searching the massive database.

Created by Joshua Schachterin 2003, rapidly gained popularity and was acquired by Yahoo! in December of 2005. From what I was able to find, it appears the service has well over 300,000 registered users stores over 10 million shared links currently; so it’s definitely worthwhile encouraging bookmarks.

You can make life easier for users to add your pages to their favorites with a simple snippet of code:

<script language="JavaScript"> document.write("<a href='"+document.location.href+"&title="+document.title+"' target='_new'>Like this article? Add it to!</a>"); </script>

Like my free tell a friend script, when the link is clicked, it records the page it is clicked from as being the bookmark. You can see it in action at the bottom of this post.

This is just another simple viral marketing strategy that may help you boost your traffic – give it a whirl :).
