Keeping an eye on what others are saying about your business is an important part of ecommerce and marketing. A new tool that came out of beta a couple of days ago makes monitoring what’s being said about your business, your competitors or general industry buzz a good deal quicker and easier.
A free service, Serph scans various social media sites when you run a search query and then returns results in reverse chronological order; latest to earliest. Serph aggregates results from sources including Technorati, Digg, YouTube, Flickr, Google Blog Search, Bloglines, and Newsvine. Once you’ve run a search, you can add it to your RSS feeds.
Applications such as Serph have a bit of an edge over general search engines as the results are very fresh. Drawing from so many sources, there’s a good chance that if something’s been posted about your business in the blogosphere, you’ll find it via Serph without having to visit multiple sites. Another nice feature is that the results are filtered somewhat to reduce garbage results from splogs (spam blogs).
Serph on over and check it out.
