Aggressive SEO companies

Needless to say, discussions ended there.

But for other site owners, being bullied or at the very least pressured by nasty SEO companies can make them feel harried and they wind up signing on – spending thousands of dollars for nought. Sometimes these companies will use fear tactics; stating that others in your field are using a competitor service, or have contacted them about using theirs.

These tactics should not be necessary. There’s something very wrong with a company that needs to do this. Good SEO companies are like good mechanics – they don’t need to chase work too much, it comes to them.

An SEO consultant plays a crucial role in your online business, you need to feel 100% comfortable with them – it should be a friendly relationship, as equals. Consultancy is about communication and is a two-way street

Again, search engine optimization isn’t rocket science, it’s just a lot of different little strategies and is rather time consuming when it comes to quality work. You do not need a university degree to understand it – I was a high school dropout – so don’t ever let a company talk down to you.

Given that it’s not overly complex, they should be happy to take the time to explain to you what they are doing; to your satisfaction. There are no “secrets” as such – and “secret” tricks not widely known could have you wind up in hot water rankings-wise in the long term anyway.

“You clearly need a little more education on SEO Mr. Bloch”. I remember being told this by an overpriced SEO company a few years back. It sprang to mind recently when reading about a few site owners who have been harassed by aggressive SEO companies.

In my case, it was when I was with another company and I was interviewing SEO firms to supply services to our client base. Having a few years of solid (and successful) SEO experience under my belt by that time; I knew that these folks were going to charge our clients too much and deliver too little. They presented a polished, very corporate proposal and a price tag to match – the problem was that it was all fluff. Getting top 10 rankings on unpopular keyphrases isn’t what you’d call rocket science.

Needless to say, discussions ended there.
