Deep linking to YouTube videos

Posted by Michael Bloch in web development (Thursday December 25, 2008 )

When linking to YouTube videos, there may only be a certain part of the video you’d like people to see. Here’s how to make it easier.

A couple of months back, YouTube implemented a feature to allow for linking directly to a specific time within each video. All you need to do is to append this to the end of a YouTube URL:

#t=XmYs

Where X=minute/s and Y=seconds.

Here’s an example:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xEzGIuY7kw#t=1m41s

In the above, the video will start playing 1 minute and 41 seconds into the sequence.

A great feature from YouTube that’s super-easy to use!
