Pew Internet & American Life Project has just released a huge report on how women and men use the Internet. Amongst the interesting results is the finding that young women are more likely to be online than young men. 86% of women ages 18-29 are online, compared with 80% of men
Other key findings:
- 67% of the adult American population goes online, including 68% of men and 66% of women.
- On a typical day 61% of men and 57% of women go online.
- Men are online more often than women.
- 52% of men and 48% of women have broadband connections at home.
- Women send and receive email more than men.
- About 90% of men and women who go online use search engines, and about 40% use them on a typical day.
- Men are more likely than women to engage in recreational activities while online
- Women are more concerned than men about general criminal use of the internet.
