Handy PayPal tools

Posted by Michael Bloch in ecommerce (Saturday April 8, 2006 )

I was perusing the PayPal site and came across PayPal for Outlook and Outlook express. This free tool has been available for a couple of years, but I hadn’t seen it before – so I thought others may not have either :)….

The Outlook/Outlook Express plugin is a 3.8 megabyte download and installs very easily; nothing to configure – just make sure you have Outlook/Outlook Express closed when you run the installation.

After installation has run, you’ll notice a payment wizard button on your tool bar. Click that, then:

– Select the type of payment you want to request – Basic, Product, Service, Auction payment or Donate

– Enter your paypal user ID email address, amount, currency and any payment notes

– Select the type of button you wish inserted; you can also specify the linking text

– You can then run a test or just finish up and an email will be generated; enter the email address of the payer; done!

Very handy :).

PayPal also offer payment wizards for Macromedia Contribute, Macromedia Dreamweaver MX, Microsoft FrontPage, Microsoft Visual Studio.NET, NetObjects Fusion, Macromedia Flash MX, and Adobe GoLive!

If you’re looking at getting into more involved projects that require PayPal support or extend PayPal functionality; the PayPal Developer Support Forums is a handy resource; as is the PayPal Developer Network

  1. It would be ok if it would stay in the toolbar. Each time I try to install it and it tries to load its not there. I am using Outlook Express 6.0 it shows up and then boom its gone.
