Story of the year I think. Microsoft’s Bill Gates has stated he’ll be decreasing his role at Microsoft over the next couple of years to focus more on his charity work.
Like a buddy just told me; “that’s like the pope stepping back from the church”.
Bill Gates plans to be free of the day-to-day issues at Microsoft by 2008.
Chief Technical Officer Ray Ozzie will immediately assume the title of chief software architect and Craig Mundie will immediately take the new title of chief research and strategy officer. Both will work closely with Bill Gates over the next 24 months to ensure a smooth transition to a relatively Gates-less Microsoft.
Bill states that he will continue to act as Microsoft chairman and in an advisory role on key development projects.

Good luck to you Billy, it’s been swell!
