Heavy Internet user habits

“Heavy users” just doesn’t refer to drugs these days :). Approximately a third of the US population are now classified as heavy users of the Internet, i.e. those accessing the web at least 11 times over 7 day period for activity not email related.

Click-to-call comrades

Google Inc. recently announced an exclusive partnership with eBay for the provision of contextual advertising on the auction giant, initially outside the United States. On top of that, a click-to-call advertising feature will be introduced on both eBay and Google, with the service operating via Skype (acquired by eBay in 2005) and Google Talk VoiP applications.

Email campaigns – best day myth

A report released yesterday states that Saturdays and Sundays recently scored the highest open rates for email marketing materials and that Thursday and Sunday had the best click-through rates.

When AOL Research somewhat foolishly left an archive file of approximately 20 million AOL Search queries generated by 650,000 users in a publicly accessible area recently, enterprising search engine optimization professionals were quick to grab a copy of the file for analysis
