Heavy Internet user habits

“Heavy users” just doesn’t refer to drugs these days :). Approximately a third of the US population are now classified as heavy users of the Internet, i.e. those accessing the web at least 11 times over 7 day period for activity not email related.

The profile of their activity whilst online is very interesting.

Click-to-call comrades

Google Inc. recently announced an exclusive partnership with eBay for the provision of contextual advertising on the auction giant, initially outside the United States. On top of that, a click-to-call advertising feature will be introduced on both eBay and Google, with the service operating via Skype (acquired by eBay in 2005) and Google Talk VoiP applications.

There’s some curious twists to this.

My first post on voice comments for blogs seems to have created a lot of interest judging by the number of search engine referrals, so I decided to hunt around a bit more to see if there were any reasonably priced voice commenting services and plugins available. RSS feed adoption stagnant

RSS still has a long way to go in not only general consumer adoption rates, but even basic awareness according to figures published in a recent report. Although the vast majority of consumers are unaware of what RSS is, many marketers still see great potential in the medium.

US retail ecommerce sales up

I wonder if we’ll ever see statistics saying otherwise :). According to a recent report from the Census Bureau of the Department of Commerce, US retail ecommerce sales in Q2 2006 were up 4.6% over Q1.
